*How Motherhood and Tradition Came Together to Create The Flavor of Home*
The Flavor of Home was born during Covid, at a time when life slowed down for everyone including me. After the birth of my daughter, Javeria, I was preparing to return to my full-time job as a Project Manager, but my heart wasn’t ready to send her to childcare so soon. I was torn between my career and motherhood.
Then Allah had a different plan. The world went into lockdown, and suddenly, I found myself at home, rediscovering the joy of slowing down. During that time, I turned to traditional foods for comfort, especially the ones that reminded me of my childhood and the warmth of home. One of them was Panjeeri, a wholesome blend of nuts and seeds that nourished both body and soul.
What started as a small kitchen experiment quickly turned into a passion. I wanted to share that same feeling, the taste of tradition, love, and care with others. And that’s how The Flavor of Home truly began.
*Meet Roohi Salman: A Pakistani Mother Bringing Authentic Comfort to UK Homes*
I’m Roohi Salman. Born in Pakistan but brought my love for creativity and connection to the UK, where I completed my second Master’s in Events Management and built a rewarding 9 year career at Nimlok UK.
Motherhood and the slower pace of lockdown opened my heart to a new purpose; sharing comfort, nourishment, and tradition with those far from home. During that time, I began making Pakistani Nan Khatai and Panjeeri in my UK kitchen for anyone missing home. That small act became The Flavor of Home (a British made brand) rooted in heritage and care.
